Pterygoid implants

The back of the upper jaw has anatomical characteristics that make it difficult to place dental implants in this area. In the majority of cases the presence of the maxillary sinus (air cavity) prevents the placement of dental implants to replace molars. In the area farther back on the jawbone there is a dense bone structure that allows the placement of dental implants that will support the prosthesis and thus prevent bone grafts.
